Reverend Dr. Robert E. Kennedy is from the North Santee community of Georgetown, SC. Rev. Kennedy is a 1978 graduate of Howard High School in Georgetown. He is the son of the lat Rev. Willie Kennedy and the late Mrs. Lucille Kennedy.
 
Rev. Dr. Kennedy has a Master’s of Divinity Degree from Hood Theological Seminary in Salisbury, NC. He has a BS Degree in Business Management from Limestone College in Gaffney, SC. He also holds an AAS Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology from Denmark Technical College and a graduate of Duke Power Center of Technology in Charlotte, NC.
For 27 years, Rev.  Kennedy was employed by Duke Energy as a Procedure writer. He subsequently returned to the Low Country to give God an opportunity to use him in the AMEC.  Recently, Rev. Kennedy was named chair of North Charleston Interfaith Ministerial Alliance.
  Rev. Kennedy is the current pastor of St. Peters AME Church in North Charleston, SC since 2007. After being assigned to St. Peter’s, Rev. Kennedy and his family relocated to the Low Country and they are now residents of Goose Creek, SC.
Rev. Kennedy comes to St. Peter’s after having served in both the Piedmont Conference and The Columbia Conference. In the Piedmont Conference, Rev. Kennedy served as pastor of Poplar Spring AME Church for 13 years. In the Columbia Conference, he served Mt. Zion, Winnsboro: Stover and Rock Hill Circuit, Bethany in Union and Thomas Chapel in Carlisle, SC.
Rev. Dr. Kennedy is married to Barbara Kennedy and they have two sons: Symeon and Savion.
